
The Defence General Staff is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the various sectors of activities in the technical-operational area of Defence. It is headed by a Lieutenant General, or an officer of equal rank, who manages and coordinates the activities of the following Divisions/Branches:
•1st Division - Personnel;
•2nd Division - Information and Security;
•3rd Division - Military Policy and Planning;
•4th Division - Logistics and Infrastructures;
•5th Division - General Affairs;
•6th Division - C4I Systems and Transformation;
•General Office of Budget and Planning;
•General Office of Legal Affairs;
•Office of Administration.
The Divisions and Branches, which are staffed on the basis of a principle of balanced representativeness of the Armed Forces, are respectively headed by Generals or Admirals, and Colonels or Navy Captains.
