Il Capo di Stato Maggiore della Difesa Ammiraglio Cavo Dragone è intervenuto oggi presso la Fiera di Roma alla 4ª edizione del new space economy NSE in corso alla alla Fiera di Roma.
Presenti all’evento il Chairman dell’NSE Prof. Rodolfo Guzzi, il Capo Ufficio per le politiche aerospaziali della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri Dott.ssa Elena Grifoni Winters e il Presidente dell’Agenzia Spaziale Italiana Ing. Giorgio Saccoccia.
Nel suo intervento il Capo di SMD ha inteso delineare l’importanza del ruolo della Difesa nello Spazio sostenendo che “The primary role of the Armed Forces is indeed this: contribute to assure a safe environment for fostering our national interests.Futhermore space is the leading edge not only for technological, industrial, strategical and political competition among great powers, but for innovation too. In this field Armed Forces play and will keep on playing a key role” e ha poi proseguito dicendo che “The protection of national interests in the space domain contributes to the resilience of the country system and, must be safeguarded as a priority. Defence, therefore, aims to act as a security provider and to preserve the freedom to access, work and operate in space, within the framework of shared initiatives with public and private actors at the international level”.
L’Ammiraglio Cavo Dragone ha concluso parlando dello spazio come dominio conteso: “Space is increasingly a contested domain. In the face of these characteristics, it is necessary to guarantee the security and defence of national interests and, simultaneously, of all operators who peacefully and legitimately want to access and operate in space. Given the highly competitive context, Space Situational Awareness has become pivotal again, for being able to attribute any hostile acts, both kinetic and non-kinetic, is critical.
