The Network of European Strategic Studies Institutions (NESSI) aims at fostering mutual knowledge, trust and exchange between research centers, and the foundations of free thinking geared towards developing a common European strategic culture, while respecting differences.
Italy participates to NESSI through the Defence Research and Analysis Institute (IRAD) of the Center for High Defense Studies (CASD). This year, as IRAD is holding the presidency of the Network for 2024, the annual NESSI meeting will be hosted at Palazzo Salviati, the headquarters of CASD, in Rome.

Transportation in Rome
If you arrive at Fiumicino Airport, there are several options to reach the city centre and the Central Train Station of Rome Termini:
• Train: the “Leonardo Express” runs every 15 minutes and will take you from Fiumicino Airport to Rome Termini station from 05.38 to 23.53 and from Rome Termini to Fiumicino Airport from 4.50 to 23.05. Cost is € 14.
• Taxi: authorized taxi vehicles are white with a “TAXI” sign on the roof. The symbol of the Municipality of reference is on the front doors and the license number is on the doors, on the back and inside the vehicle. The cost to get to the city center is about € 50.

After arriving at Rome Termini, you can reach CASD both by bus and taxi. For detailed information, click here.
Accommodation
CASD will be glad to host you in our military facilities (please take a careful look at the map available here). The rooms have been pre-booked exclusively for the duration of the meeting (24-26 September). The available accommodation are:
1. Foresteria “Lungara”, within the CASD precinct (for directions, click here) FULLY BOOKED
2. “La Casa dell’Aviatore” – sede Spallanzani, located approximately 45 minutes by bus from CASD and 15 minutes by metro from Rome Termini (for directions, click here) FULLY BOOKED
3. Circolo Sottufficiali Marina Militare, approximately 1 hour by bus from CASD and 1 hour from Rome Termini (for directions, click here).
The rooms will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, in the order listed above.
Should you wish to provide for your own accommodation, please notify us asap and in any case before July 26th.
