Hosted by the Second Naval Division of the Italian Navy, stationed at the Taranto Naval Base, this course was conducted in METT (Mobile Educational Training Team) mode. It was designed and delivered by the Joint Air Operations School (JAOS) of Guidonia, in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Joint Effects & Targeting (JET) Division of the Joint Forces Operational Command.

The recently concluded edition saw the participation of 23 attendees from various branches of the Armed Forces and defense sectors, including international attendees such as four officers from the US Navy and one officer from the French Marine Nationale. The diverse representation of participants further enriched the exchange of knowledge and interaction among different military realities.

The course, conducted entirely in English, is certified and published as "NATO Approved" in the "Education and Training Opportunities Catalogue" (ETOC). It is recognized as filling a training gap within the Alliance and serves as the first step in the formation of a "Targeteer" - a highly specialized operator in managing the iterative evaluation processes, both at strategic and operational levels, of the Targeting Cycle. These operators are intended for deployment within a Joint Force Command, which is an operational command with joint and international character.

Throughout the course, participants had the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge of NATO Joint Targeting, with particular emphasis on the relevance of targeting in different domains of Multi-Domain Operations (MDOs) such as Air, Maritime, Land, Space, and Cyber, within the current operational environments characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA environment).

The conclusion of the 22nd IJT Course marks another important milestone for the JAOS, affirming its national and international standing as a military institution dedicated to high-level technical and operational training.
