23 attendees belonging to the 4 italian Armed Forces and 3 foreign military personnel from France and Bulgaria have concluded the 19th Initial Joint Target (IJT-NATO APPROVED) course. Entirely delivered in English language, the course is intended for personnel employable as Joint support elements or staff of an Operational Command or a Joint Force Command.
The course, constantly updated according to the national/NATO doctrine, is listed among the NATO courses, and is based on the operational concept of the "Targeting cycle", understood as an interactive process of strategic and operational evaluation of the objectives to be pursued, the subsequent results achieved, and the analysis of their correspondence.
In the same period, on 24.02.2023, the 7th Joint Target Folder course (JTF-NATO APPROVED) also ended for 18 attendees belonging to the national Armed Forces, 2 French officers, and 1 Bulgarian NCO. The course, entirely delivered in English language, is organized by the ITA JAOS in close collaboration with the Joint Effects and Targeting (JET) Division of the JOINT OPERATION COMMAND (JOC).
The course, preceded by an online introductory phase, represents the natural continuation of the Initial Joint Targeting and contributes to the development of Targeteers. The presence of instructors l belonging to NATO Centralized Targeting Cell (CTC) was particularly appreciated and brought considerable added value to the course and the training of the attendees.
Moreover, during the training week, an interesting visit to the JOC (organized by the JET Division) took place where real-life examples and cases of targeting were discussed and illustrated. The attendees were able to verify the complexity of Target Folders development and deepen their knowledge on the specific topic.
The course, which represents one of the few training opportunities available within the Alliance in the field of target folder production, was created to fill the training gap related to the targeting sector and was therefore included in the NATO Educational and Training Opportunities Catalogue (ETOC) as NATO APPROVED.
