Undersecretary of State for Defence Perego meets the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Security and Defence Committee

Undersecretary of State for Defence Matteo Perego di Cremnago, as delegated by Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, met Major General Le Tan Toi, Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Security and Defence Committee, during his official visit to Rome.

The meeting was an important opportunity to lay the groundwork for further cooperation between Italy and Vietnam, an increasingly important country in the South-East Asia region.

“The Indo-Pacific is a crucial area for global security: this is why the Italy-Vietnam relations are an important contribution to international stability”, Undersecretary Perego stated. Then, he added: “Relations between our countries are based on solid friendship, and we must continue to work to strengthen them further, especially in light of the current geopolitical scenario”.

During the meeting, which took place in a cordial atmosphere of mutual trust, opinions were shared on scenarios of common interest. It was also underscored that, regardless of the geographical distance between nations, current challenges are increasingly similar to one another.

“Italy and Vietnam share the importance of international security and stability. Only by establishing a cooperation framework we can effectively tackle current global challenges and promote peace and prosperity for our nations and the entire International Community”, Undersecretary Perego concluded.
