Undersecretary of State for Defence Isabella Rauti delivers the Tricolour to Team Italia for the 2025 Invictus Games

Undersecretary of State for Defence Isabella Rauti attended the ceremony for the delivery of the Tricolour to the paralympic athletes from the Armed Forces who will take part in the seventh edition of the Invictus Games, scheduled to take place in Canada (Vancouver and Whistler) from 8 to 16 February, with athletes from 22 countries.

“It was a honour and a joy – Rauti said- to deliver, on behalf of Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, the Tricolour to the Standard Bearer and Team Italia Captain for the next edition of the Invictus Games, the most well-known international paralympic sports event, dedicated to military members of all the Armed Forces who have been permanently maimed in service”.

Team Italia will take part in the Games with 18 athletes, who will compete in both winter sports (downhill and cross-country skiing, biathlon, skeleton and wheelchair curling), and in “classical” sports (swimming, indoor rowing, wheelchair rugby and sitting volley).

The Invictus Games were established by Prince Harry: during a trip in the United States, in 2013, he attended the Warrior Games, and observed the beneficial effectsof sport on wounded or sick military. He decided to launch a similar event in the United Kingdom, through the Invictus Games Foundation. The first edition took place in London in 2014. The following ones were held in Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017), Sydney (2018), Le Hague (2020), and Dusseldorf (2023).
