The training campaign for the cadets of the 2nd Class of the “Francesco Morosini” Naval Academy began yesterday in Palermo aboard the USS San Marco.
This training experience will allow the cadets to become part of the crew of a Naval Squadron vessel and to contribute, as part of a collective effort, to the conduct of operational and training activities on board.
For the cadets, this is a unique and invaluable life experience - on the sea and for the sea. For the crew, the cadets’ presence represents, at the same time, an important opportunity to pass on professional skills, traditions, and values, in an ideal passing of the torch to future generations of sailors.
The San Marco’s stop in the port of Palermo took place as part of the initiatives for Navy Day on June 10, an anniversary that commemorates the historic significance of the Battle of Premuda in 1918 and represents one of the most significant moments for the identity and traditions of the Armed Forces.
