The Italian Defence Greets Pope Leo XIV

“The white smoke that calls the faithful to St. Peter’s Square has always been a sign of rebirth and hope. The news of the election of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, from now on Pope Leo XIV, fills me with deep joy. The new Pastor of the Catholic Church is assigned the challenging, but highly remarkable task to be the spiritual guide of the faithful and a reference figure for the lay world, at a time marked by confusion and uncertainty. A Pontiff, now more than ever, builds bridges, at a time crossed by deep division. It will be a precious reference figure also for all the men and women of the Defence, committed day by day to their mission to protect peace”.
