The earth shakes. 299 lives are shattered and entire communities are swept away. Central Italy wakes up in the dark, amid rubble, fear, and pain.

From the very first, dramatic hours, among the rescuers are also the women and men of the Armed Forces, committed to saving lives, searching for missing people, helping the injured, and staying close to those who, in just a few moments, lost everything.

Ten years have passed, but the memory of that night remains alive in the nation's memory.

Today our thoughts go to the victims and their families. A memory that continues to live on through the daily commitment of the Defense in service and support of the community.
