Special Audience of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV

On the occasion of the centenary of the establishment of the Military Ordinariate, Minister Guido Crosetto was received in a special audience by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, together with the Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, the leaders of the Defence establishment, His Excellency the Most Reverend Monsignor Gian Franco Saba, and a delegation from the Military Ordinariate.

“Our respectful thanks to the Holy Father for receiving the Military Chaplains who, over the course of this century-long journey, have represented and continue to represent a constant and precious presence, providing assistance and spiritual support to the women and men of Defence, and sharing both the serene moments and the most difficult ones in their service dedicated to safeguarding peace. As the Holy Father recalled, service is born from love for one’s country and, above all, for people, and it translates into concrete closeness, especially in places and circumstances where fragility is greatest. It is no coincidence that for the centenary of the Military Ordinariate the motto ‘Inter arma, Caritas’ was chosen, recalling the mission of the Military Chaplains: to bring charity and spiritual assistance even in the most fragile contexts, accompanying service members and their families and bearing witness to humanity, faith, and service to peace.”
