Space Governance – National Space Day 2025

“Space is a new arena of competition. From a privileged environment from which to draw resources, it has become a critical domain, characterized by increasingly complex threats. It is a component that must be protected, as it represents the backbone of many essential services.

It is unthinkable to address a domain such as space alone: Italy, strengthened by its sectoral excellence, must increasingly reinforce cooperation and build critical mass with other countries, in terms of research and knowledge, to ensure that space becomes a true enabler of growth.

What is therefore needed is an implementable, integrated, and as open as possible system. Because today the arena of competition is space; tomorrow it will be other domains such as rare earths and the seabed.”

This was stated by the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, speaking today at the conference “Space Governance – National Space Day 2025”, held at the Chamber of Deputies’ Parliamentary Groups Hall.
