Over the last few weeks the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) cell, part of the Italian National Contingent Command-Somalia, implemented a number of projects in the humanitarian,  professional training and facility enhancement sectors in favour of the population of Mogadishu.

Three different activities were implemented in the districts of Wadajiir, Xamar Jajab and Hawl Wadag, in cooperation with “Amina”, a charity foundation, to deliver basic foods to distressed households.

The Italian military were also engaged in conducting professional training activities -a course on fish products processing and storage- for vulnerable groups in the Region of Benadir. The course was conducted in cooperation with local Development Cooperative “Hibo Fishery”, giving attendees concrete job opportunities.

The activities of the Italian contingent in favour of the population continued even during Ramadan. Recently the CIMIC Cell has implemented a project in favour of the District of Xamar Weyne  for the modernization of facilities dedicated to public activities.

Support by the  Force Protection Unit, based on a company from the Lagunari “Serenissima” Regiment, is of fundamental importance, as it guarantees the security of the Italian Contingent during activities carried our externally.
