Quantum General Assembly – Implementation of the National Strategy for Quantum Technologies

Quantum technologies are already a matter of national security. They directly affect technological sovereignty, deterrence, and resilience

17 Dec 2025

The Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, spoke at the event Quantum General Assembly – Implementation of the National Strategy for Quantum Technologies,” held today at the Corsie Sistine in Rome.

Quantum is a field of competition among States destined to redefine global balances: whoever leads this trajectory will hold a decisive economic and strategic advantage. Standing still is not an option, and the involvement of Defence is not ancillary, but structural,Minister Crosetto said, explaining that “our participation in the National Working Group on Quantum Technologies responds to a clear need: the definition of a national quantum posture cannot disregard the integration, from the very outset, of security and defence principles. Faced with a complex and unprecedented scenario, a unified vision is required. Hence the proposal for a National Quantum Hub: not a ‘simple’ container, but a political and strategic choice—an operational accelerator capable of transforming a vision into capabilities. A synergy that integrates defence, research, and industrial policy within a systemic approach. Speed, synergy, and adaptability are not a competitive advantage; they are a strategic necessity for the country.”
