“This afternoon, at Palazzo Chigi, together with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Luciano Portolano, and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy, Adm. Fabio Gregori, we took stock of the operational situation of the Italian missions, with particular reference to the Middle Eastern theatre.

Assessments are currently underway, with the main focus on the security of the contingents and on the national presence in the area. As also stated by the Houthi spokesperson, there was no intention to target an Italian asset.

In the meantime, measures have been adopted for all assets, and in particular for the air assets, in order to enhance their security conditions.

In any case, the continuity of operational activities will be ensured, in compliance with the international commitments undertaken through participation in Operation Inherent Resolve and with the protection of our personnel.”

This was stated by Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto in a statement.
