“Regarding the announced parliamentary question from Representative Bonelli on the NATO Steadfast Noon exercise, I am, as always, fully prepared to report to Parliament and provide all necessary clarifications.
NATO’s Steadfast Noon is an annual training exercise, planned well in advance, that takes place on a rotating basis among the member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and which Italy has already hosted six times: in 2010 under the Berlusconi administration, in 2013 under the Letta administration, in 2014 under the Renzi administration, in 2018 under the first Conte administration, in 2021 under the Draghi administration, and in 2023 under the Meloni administration.
We are therefore talking about a well-established routine activity, carried out over the years under governments of various political orientations, which is part of NATO’s normal programming and is not linked to current international crises.
It is also important to clarify that the exercise does not involve the use of live ammunition. The activities are aimed at verifying procedures, coordination, and safety standards among allied forces.
I am ready to answer any questions in Parliament and provide all necessary clarifications. When it comes to national security and Italy’s commitments within NATO, we need seriousness, transparency, and respect for the facts—not opportunistic polemics.”

So stated Defense Minister Guido Crosetto in a statement.
