Offshore Patrol Vessel Francesco Morosini, the second ship of the Italian Navy's Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Vessel (PPA) class, left La Spezia naval base a few days ago for a five-month naval campaign in the Far East.
During more than five months until September, this naval unit will be a flagship of the Italian country system and the excellence of national industry.
Planned activities to promote Defence industrial excellence include attendance at the Singapore International Maritime Defence Exhibition (IMDEX) and the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA).
Participation in the South China Sea, in the Indonesian-led Komodo 23 exercise for search, rescue and evacuation of civilians, which involves all major countries in Asia bordering the Pacific Ocean, will follow.
During the campaign, the patrol vessel will travel to the Far East and sail the waters of the China Sea, touching the ports of Yokosuka, Japan (14-18 June) and Pusan, South Korea (21-24 June), and develop Naval Diplomacy activities in fifteen ports in fourteen South-East Asian countries.
