The Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, during his official visit to Qatar, met with Italian military personnel at the conclusion of the multinational exercise “Ferocious Falcon 6”, carried out together with colleagues from France, Qatar, the United Kingdom, the United States and Turkey.

“Every contingent, every unit, every Italian service member deployed abroad is a precious part of Italy — the very heart of our credibility in the world. The contribution of each soldier, no matter how small it may seem, is an essential component of a larger system. Every mission is a building block of national security.

In an international situation that is particularly complex, engaging with colleagues from other Nations, with those operating in different scenarios, means committing yourselves so that nothing happens — and, at the same time, being ready and prepared for any scenario,” said Minister Crosetto, who then added:

“During my visit to Qatar, I received important words of praise: ‘working with the Italians means growing’. I am here to thank you, to acknowledge a value that often remains in the shadows, yet forms the basis of Italy’s credibility and the respect our Nation earns in many international contexts. This is also — and above all — thanks to people like you: men and women who, without seeking the spotlight, honour every day the oath they took, with dignity and dedication. Have a safe journey home.”

Afterwards, the Minister, together with the Ambassador of Italy to Qatar, Paolo Toschi, visited the Italian Embassy for the unveiling ceremony of a plaque dedicated to the Fallen.

Earlier, Minister Crosetto held a cordial meeting with His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Qatar, a country that is among the main actors in the Middle Eastern context and capable of contributing significantly to regional stability.

“Qatar,” the Minister said, “has played a key mediating role in the Gaza crisis and is also carrying out mediation efforts in other crises, confirming itself as a capable and reliable interlocutor in processes of dialogue and de-escalation. We reaffirmed our common desire to strengthen the already deep bonds of friendship, to work together for peace in the Middle East, and to reinforce the excellent cooperation between our Armed Forces and in the defence industry sector.”
