“The National Day of Civilian Victims of Wars and Conflicts Worldwide is a moment of remembrance and reflection, to reaffirm the value of human life and to remember innocent women, men, and children who are victims of violence and hatred. In a world marked by crises and conflicts, from Ukraine to the Middle East, populations continue to pay the highest price of war, with civilian victims remaining its most painful and unjust face.
The Ministry of Defence is daily committed to contributing to stability and peace, fully aware that these are never guaranteed. The women and men of the Armed Forces, who have experienced war up close and often bear its indelible scars on their bodies and in their consciences, understand its human and moral cost and, for this reason, operate even at the risk of their own lives to protect people and offer them hope.
Remembering civilian victims means refusing to become accustomed to evil and renewing an ethical and civic duty: to work so that peace prevails over violence and the dignity of the human person always remains at the center.”
Thus stated Minister Guido Crosetto.
Today, Palazzo Baracchini, headquarters of the Ministry of Defence, is illuminated in blue, the symbolic color of the Day.
