“We honour the memory of sister Maria Cristina Luinetti, Red Cross Volunteer Nurse, the first Italian victim during a peacekeeping mission. On 9 December 1993, when she was only 24, she gave her life to defend the Mogadishu hospital where she worked. Her incredible courage and dedication are an example to all of us”, Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said.
