The Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, spoke at the press conference presenting the results of the project "Vespucci World Tour and Villaggio Italia 2023-2025", held at the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum.
“With the Vespucci we undertook a unique journey: we brought Italy to the world aboard an exceptional ambassador, the pride of our Navy and Defence” said Minister Crosetto explaining that “Each stop was an opportunity to tell who we are: art, culture, history, fashion, design, inclusion; excellences that unite the strength of our past with the drive towards the future. The Vespucci Tour showed how our heritage, ancient and contemporary, can become a lever to build tomorrow. We must be able to draw on the precious legacy left to us to turn it into energy, work, growth, vision. An initiative strongly desired by Defence, built day after day, port after port. An extraordinary model that we intend to relaunch, because this is how the Sistema Italia is strengthened: uniting roots and innovation, identity and communication, history and future. The Armed Forces have once again demonstrated the ability to collaborate in the service of a common goal, representing Italy with professionalism, passion and pride. A heritage for the country, a resource for peace and for the future.”
In his speech, Minister Crosetto then added that “Made in Italy was not born by chance, it was born because abroad our country is known for fashion, design, high technology, for art, the inclusive approach and much more besides.”
“With the Vespucci” he explained, “we used a training and military instrument to bring Italy to the world. The example of the Vespucci has in fact allowed us to understand how a part of our heritage, past and present, can be useful to build the future. We must be able to draw on the precious legacy left to us to turn it into energy, work, growth, vision. I am pleased with the teamwork that has been done and that cannot end here. The success of the Vespucci Tour must be nurtured and exploited in the future as well. The Vespucci is a valuable asset of Defence which demonstrates that it is essential to operate and strengthen ourselves to stubbornly maintain peace, as the President of the Republic always reminds us.”
The event was attended, among others, by the Minister for Disabilities, Alessandra Locatelli; the Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Alfredo Mantovano; the Deputy Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Valentino Valentini; the Undersecretary of State for Defence, Matteo Perego di Cremnago; Luca Andreoli, CEO of Difesa Servizi; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Luciano Portolano; the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Enrico Credendino; civil and military authorities. The conference was moderated by journalist Fabio Tamburini.
