Minister Crosetto’s Official Visit to Saudi Arabia

Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, held a “cordial meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, to whom I expressed solidarity regarding the suffering of Saudi citizens and the damage to critical infrastructure caused by Iranian attacks.”

The discussion focused on the initiatives Italy has undertaken to support Riyadh during the crisis, with particular reference to the defensive military assistance provided by our country, as well as an exchange of views on the prospects for the conflict and the ongoing efforts to facilitate a diplomatic solution.

“I appreciated,” Minister Crosetto continued, “Saudi Arabia’s commitment to preventing further escalation of the conflict, its support for maintaining the ceasefire, and the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran. We also discussed freedom of navigation, cooperation between our respective armed forces, and prospects for collaboration in the defense industry. National security is also built in this way: by strengthening relationships with reliable partners and sharing responsibility and commitment to international stability.”

Upon his arrival in Jeddah, Minister Crosetto was welcomed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, General Fayyad Al-Ruwaili.
