The Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, intervened via videoconference at the third edition of the "Risorsa Mare" Forum, which is taking place today and tomorrow in Civitavecchia.
"Italy is a unique nation: its 8,000 kilometers of coastlines and its position at the center of the Mediterranean are essential elements of our identity and a value-added asset for our international projection," said the Minister, who then added:
"The sea represents a strategic pillar for the country's future: over 90% of global trade, 99% of digital communications, and a significant portion of European energy corridors pass through it. The underwater dimension is destined to become a crucial area for competition and innovation. For this reason, Italy invests in surveillance and the protection of critical infrastructures, with the National Underwater Dimension Hub and new regulations that recognize its strategic centrality. Investing in the sea means guaranteeing sovereignty, security, and growth."
