An Italian Air Force aircraft carrying Palestinian children needing medical treatment landed last night in Milan. Pisa and Rome are the flight’s next landings. The young patients, accompanied by their families and a medical team, will be immediately transferred to local hospitals to start needed medical treatments.
“Behind every such missions there are stories of sufferings, as well as hope. – Defence Minister Guido Crosetto stated- These children had to leave their country to undergo treatment: they are the most vulnerable victims of a conflict from which no one is spared. Italy cannot remain indifferent: we will continue to work to guarantee assistance and protection to the most needful. Special thanks to all those who made this operation possible: the personnel of the Armed Forces, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Civil Protection.
The mission is conducted within the framework of larger humanitarian commitment which sees Italy on the frontline to provide assistance to Gaza civilian population. Besides providing medical evacuation services to the most vulnerable, our country takes active part in international mission EUBAM-RAFAH, to facilitate transit of wounded and sick patients through the Rafah Crossing and guarantee air bridges and maritime transportation of humanitarian aid; we also provided medical support through Italian Navy Ship Vulcano.
Thus, Italy confirms its role as a nation committed to international solidarity, aiming to provide concrete aid to people severely struck by the dramatic consequences of the conflict.
