Minister Crosetto on Official Visit to Poland

Minister Guido Crosetto, on an official visit to Poland today, had a cordial and productive meeting with his friend and Polish counterpart, Kosiniak-Kamysz.
"Italy and Poland are united by an ancient bond, reflected even in our national anthems: Italy is mentioned in the Polish anthem, while Poland is mentioned in the Italian one. Today, this relationship translates into a shared vision of the challenges ahead," said the Minister, who went on to add:
"We analysed developments in the situation in Ukraine. We shared our commitment to continuing to support it, bearing in mind that every Ukrainian soldier who loses their life defending their country is, in fact, also defending a part of Europe. This requires Europe to rapidly strengthen its defence and deterrence capabilities.
Defending Poland means defending Italy and, more broadly, defending Europe means defending each of our Nations.
With Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, we share the goal of contributing to the development of European defence in its continental dimension, extending beyond the 27 EU Member States, strong and complementary to NATO. A Europe capable of protecting its populations and making any potential adversary understand that attacking one of our Nations means confronting all of us.
Europe's strength lies in cooperation. Thinking that each country can face today's threats alone means making it weaker. The more capable we are of working together, the stronger each individual Nation becomes and the more credible our deterrence becomes.
Poland is an example of the speed with which it has responded to the new security environment and of what it is doing on the Eastern Flank. Italy will continue to provide its contribution to NATO and to the security of the region, where more than 2,000 Italian military personnel are deployed.
We must also work together on the future of Defence: integrated air defence, space, artificial intelligence, unmanned and robotic systems, countering hybrid threats, military mobility and industrial cooperation. At this stage, more than ever, we need to share capabilities among Allies, because a stronger Ally makes all of us stronger.
Italy and Poland also share the determination to strengthen the European defence industry and develop new forms of cooperation, from helicopters to F-35s, through to the strategic infrastructure required by NATO."
This is what Minister Guido Crosetto said in Warsaw as part of the series of official foreign visits currently underway.
