"We are and will stand by the Ukrainian people. We will continue to support Kiev and work so that it can return to normality. It is essential that diplomacy continues its relentless work to achieve a just peace', Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, said during his meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal. Mr Shmyal is currently in Italy for a round of institutional meetings and for the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine.

Held at Navy Staff Building, this important and friendly meeting was an opportunity to emphasise Italy's support for the Ukrainian people and to talk about peace and the country's future.

The Minister called for an end to the conflict and reiterated the importance of diplomacy.

Prime Minister Shmyhal expressed his thanks for the support and backing provided by Italy, in particular for the education and training to the Ukrainian military.
