Minister Crosetto meets with Portugal's Minister of Defence
Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, on an official visit to Portugal, had a constructive and cordial meeting with his Portuguese counterpart and friend, Nuno Melo.
The talks focused on strengthening cooperation in the defence sector and defence industry, with particular attention to the electronic, naval, aeronautical and space sectors, areas that can generate significant and positive repercussions for the growth of our economies.
"An ideal path that begins today with the signing of a “Letter of Intent” that represents a vision for the future, based on the exchange of experiences in multiple sectors and mutual benefits for our countries," said Minister Crosetto, who then added:
"Italy and Portugal are among the European countries that boast the strongest relations with Africa, and also have a privileged relationship with South America. For this reason, too, a union of intent and structured cooperation can open up further opportunities and allow us to enter new markets together."
The two ministers shared their desire to promote joint initiatives, including within the European Union and NATO, in areas of mutual interest, with a specific focus on Africa.
The minister then travelled to Paris for an official visit to France.
