“The personnel of the Tuscania and the GIS represent the excellence of the Carabinieri and the Italian Armed Forces: women and men who have chosen a life of sacrifice, sweat, and renunciation. They are a part of the country that has sworn allegiance to the Republic, placing their lives at the service of others.

This is why, when someone encounters a uniform on a dark street, they feel safer: because they know they are standing before people who have chosen to protect them. This is a great responsibility, but also an immense honor.

The uniform you wear and the beret you carry have a value that goes beyond the individual. Within those symbols lives the history of thousands of women and men who—through strength, preparation, and humanity have earned, day after day, the trust and respect of the Italian people.

And it is precisely this humanity that distinguishes us in the world. You embody all of this, continuing to serve the country in silence, away from the spotlight, despite the difficulties and sacrifices of daily life.

That is why I am here today: to thank you, on behalf of the Republic that you have served and will continue to serve with honor." Thus spoke Minister Guido Crosetto while meeting with the personnel of the Tuscania and the Special Intervention Group (GIS) of the Carabinieri.
