Minister Crosetto meets the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

Defence Minister Guido Crosetto today met Kaja Kallas,the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission.

"Talks were extremely cordial and constructive. We have provided full support to the EU strategic autonomy, that is NATO's European pillar. NATO remains the cornerstone of collective security for the whole West, including the EU. We have also proposed to establish a permanent table to advance and find solutions, and assess common progress. We have also shared a common vision on enhancing the Defence industry: a tool that we all deem fundamental to facilitate European military and strategic cooperation, as well as contribute to the security and stability of our democracies. Further focus on cooperation in common projects, aiming to optimize resources and use them more effectively. Finally, we reiterated the need to exclude defence investments from the EU Stability Pact to respond appropriately to increasing collective security requirements- On Ukraine, we confirmed our common commitment to create the pre-conditions for fair, durable peace".
