Defence Minister Guido Crosetto today met the Romanian Defence Minister, Angel Tîlvăr, at Palazzo Esercito. The Romanian minister is in Italy on an official visit.
The productive friendly meeting aimed to strengthen the historical cooperation relations between the two countries. Minister Tîlvăr called for a strengthened cooperation in the Defence sector and Armed Forces' training activities.
Minister Crosetto received his counterpart's congratulations for the professionalism shown by the Italian military in Romania, as well as a request for further strengthening the Italian military presence in his country.
Talks also focused on the Alliance's Eastern flank, Western Balkans and especially the current situation in Kosovo. As regards the latter, Minister Crosetto underscored the importance of seeking all possible mediation modalities, moving along the path of dialogue and diplomacy.
Minister Tîlvăr moreover expressed his closeness to Italy, a friendly country, also as regards the commitment needed to tackle problems on the Southern flank of the Atlantic Alliance.
