Today in Rome, the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, met with the Portuguese Minister of Defence, Hon. Nuno Melo.
“Fruitful meeting with my Portuguese counterpart Nuno Melo. It was an opportunity to reaffirm the strength of the strategic relationship between our countries and to relaunch cooperation in an international context marked by growing uncertainty, with particular attention to the Southern Flank and the challenges arising from the wider Mediterranean region.
The willingness to intensify synergies between our Armed Forces and our joint commitment to defence and deterrence was renewed.
We both expressed great satisfaction with the signing of the 'Statement of Intent', which paves the way for new joint initiatives in the military field and in the defence industry.
Finally, we underlined the need to promote shared development of production and technological capabilities, as a key element for regional stability and security.”
Thus declared the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, at the end of the meeting with his Portuguese counterpart, Hon. Nuno Melo.
