Minister Crosetto meets his Azerbaijani counterpart, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov
“Cordial meeting with my Azerbaijani counterpart, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov. Azerbaijan plays a fundamental role in the Eurasian region and represents a primary interlocutor for Italy, as well as a strategic partner in the energy sector.
I expressed closeness and firm condemnation regarding the recent attack suffered by Azerbaijan by Iranian drones, along with appreciation for the balance and sense of responsibility demonstrated by Baku in managing tensions.
During the talks, the solidity and growing importance of bilateral cooperation were reaffirmed, particularly in the field of defense including through education and training activities between the respective Armed Forces and in the industry sector. Furthermore, a mutual readiness to promote further dialogue to expand areas of collaboration was confirmed.
We also shared the importance of preserving stability in the Middle East and the Caucasus, especially in light of the impact of ongoing conflicts on regional security.” So stated Minister Guido Crosetto.
