“We must do what we can to put an end to this war, and until then we must prevent the deaths of Ukrainian children, women and citizens. The first thing we must do, therefore, is to stop rockets from targeting civilian facilities by supporting Ukraine’s air defence”.
Thus Defence Minister Guido Crosetto from Ramstein (Germany), where he has attended the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contac Group (UDCG).
An opportunity to reiterate Italy’s support for Ukraine. “All European and NATO nations, including Italy, have assumed the task of training Ukrainian soldiers. We have done that in Italy, and will continue to do so because that is one of the ways we chose to help Ukraine, by training its soldiers on the use of air defence systems. In the near future – he added- we will see what Ukraine’s requirements will be and how we can meet them”.
In fact, Minister Crosetto reiterated that Air Defence is an increasingly critical requirement.
“In his speech, President Zelensky thanked some countries, including the USA, Great Britain and Italy, for aid offered so far, especially with regard to air defence, which will be increasingly important. The SAMP-T system we have delivered, and the one we are. I hope, going to deliver soon, allowed and will allow Ukraine to defend itself from Russian missile attacks”.
