“I express my profound sorrow at the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, brother of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. He devoted his life to the service of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.

To His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to the Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to the Al Maktoum family and to the entire Emirati people, I extend my heartfelt condolences and those of the Italian Defence. At this time of sorrow, Italy stands with you.”
