Minister Crosetto at the International Paris Air Show

Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, in Paris for the 55th edition of the International Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, had a cordial meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, José Mucio Monteiro Filho.

"Italy and Brazil share historic ties of friendship and solid cooperation in the defense sector. An intense dialogue with my counterpart confirms our common desire to strengthen existing synergies, particularly in the aeronautics and defense industries.  We have expressed our willingness to develop further areas of strategic collaboration, from air and cyber defense to underwater and submarine dimensions, the latter being increasingly essential for the security and protection of natural resources present in the seabed," said Minister Crosetto, who then added: “We also shared our desire to strengthen cooperation in the aerospace sector, in order to increase the number of satellites and make up for the gap that has accumulated in the past. This discussion opens up significant prospects for both countries in a rapidly changing international context.”

In Paris, Minister Crosetto also met with the Director General of the European Space Agency, Josef Aschbacher:

“This was a valuable opportunity to promote the excellence of the national aerospace industry, recognized globally as one of Italy's main calling cards. In a field that is set to become increasingly central to the geopolitics of the future, the strategic objective is to increase the number of space launches while reducing operational times, in order to consolidate the competitive advantage that our country already holds in the space domain.”
