Defence Minister Guido Crosetto arrived this morning in Brussels to take part in the Atlantic Council in Ministers of Defence format at NATO Headquarters.
In the morning, on the sidelines of the meeting, the Minister met with his Bulgarian counterpart Todor Targaev. Themes on the table included cooperation between the Armed Forces, in particular within Multinational Battle Group-Bulgaria, currently under Italian leadership, aimed to secure the Eastern Flank of the Alliance.
Subsequently, the Minister met with the UK Secretary of State for Defence, the Hon. Ben Wallace. “Cooperation in the Defence sector between Italy and the UK is bound to strengthen further, on the basis of the strategic partnership that unites our countries, in particular through the GCAP project”, Minister Crosetto said at the end of the meeting.
During his day at the NATO Headquarters, Minister Crosetto also held talks with his Slovak counterpart, Martin Sklenar. At the end of the meeting Crosetto said: “Productive meeting with my colleague Martin Sklenar. He expressed his appreciation for the Italian SAMP-T air defence system redeployed in Slovakia. We have analyzed further cooperation prospects between our Armed Forces and within a Defence industry framework”.
Before leaving Brussels, Minister Crosetto also spoke to his Canadian colleague Anita Anand. The meeting highlighted the common will to establish a close relationship in the sector of Defence.
