"A strong defense makes no sense without economic security, growth, industrial capacity, social equity, and a robust production and educational system.
Defense is a fundamental pillar of security, but it is not the only one. And it only makes sense if it protects a free, democratic, and cohesive country.
For if a society is torn, fragmented, polarized, and violent, it destroys from within the very thing that the Armed Forces are tasked with defending against external threats.
The challenges before us are enormous. Individually, we are too small in the face of the transformations currently underway, and too slow given the speed at which they are occurring. We must act as a unified system, overcome divisions, share our objectives, and accelerate decision-making.
We need a continental vision for European defense—one that extends beyond the 27 member states of the Union and develops capabilities based on common requirements.
This is the Italian perspective: a Europe capable of pooling resources, expertise, and capabilities to collectively address challenges that no single nation can face alone."
So stated Minister Guido Crosetto, speaking at the ‘2nd Forum Defence Procurement.’
