
Military Magistrates’ Council: International Cooperation in Saudi Arabia

Today, in Riyadh, the First President of the Court of Cassation, Margherita Cassano; Deputy President of the Military Magistrates’ Council Pietro Laffranco and Military Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, Maurizio Block, met with Deputy Minister of Justice Najem Al Zaid and Deputy Minister for International Cooperation Bashar Al Mofadda.
The representatives of the Saudi Government, who expressed their hope for expanding cooperation with the Italian justice system, illustrated the progress made in the field of reforms, in particular with the computerization, of the justice system and the establishment of a facility aimed to incentivise recourse to negotiation.
The delegation was also received by the President of Military Tribunals and Military Attorney General, with whom they discussed in detail subjects of common interest and specific aspects of the respective military law.
At the end of the activities, the delegation of the Military Magistrates’ Council expressed satisfaction with the attentive participation of the government and bodies of Saudi Arabia ordinary and military justice to the discussion: an example of international cooperation which is a unique forum for interaction between a Western justice system and the equivalent bodies of a Middle East state in the legal field.
