“In these particularly delicate hours, I am following the developments in the Middle East area with the utmost attention, in close coordination with the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, the Government, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, who have clearly reaffirmed the need to promote every diplomatic initiative useful for de-escalation.
I am in constant contact with the Defence Ministers of allied countries, of the region, and with the United States Secretary of War, as part of a continuous and responsible dialogue aimed at fully monitoring ongoing developments.
The shared objective is to prevent any spiraling of the conflict. It is indeed evident that there are attempts to extend the involvement of additional actors: precisely for this reason, international coordination and diplomatic action remain essential.
Italy continues to firmly support political dialogue, respect for international law, and any initiative capable of restoring stability and security in the region, while at the same time protecting our fellow citizens, national interests, and Defence personnel deployed in the Middle East area. We are acting with a sense of responsibility, balance, and unity of action together with our allies and international partners so that the crisis remains contained and the conditions are created for a gradual reduction of tensions. We will continue to monitor the situation with the utmost attention, maintaining a constant commitment to peace, international security, and the stability of the Middle East.” So stated Minister Guido Crosetto.
