Meeting of the E5 Defence Group

"The E5 Defence Group videoconference meeting (France, Germany, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom), in which I took part, represented a significant opportunity to strengthen our shared vision of a stronger Europe within a stronger NATO, in support of collective defence and Euro-Atlantic security. A key part of the discussion focused on a common strategy to enhance the European contribution to the Alliance within the framework of transatlantic relations. In an increasingly complex international environment, we reaffirm that Russia represents the most serious and enduring threat to Euro-Atlantic security. For this reason, we continue to strengthen our defence capabilities and our role within NATO. The upcoming Ankara Summit will be an important opportunity to promote a fairer sharing of responsibilities among Allies, while at the same time continuing our joint efforts to enhance coordination and support for Ukraine, in defence of our collective security." Minister Guido Crosetto said.
