“March 16, 1978, the day of the Via Fani Massacre, represents one of the most tragic pages in our country's history. Forty-eight years after that dramatic event, a symbol of the horror of terrorism, we movingly remember the names of the men of the security detail: servants of the State barbarically killed by the Red Brigades during the kidnapping of the President of the Christian Democracy party, Aldo Moro.
Oreste Leonardi and Domenico Ricci of the Carabinieri, and Giulio Rivera, Francesco Zizzi, and Raffaele Iozzino of the State Police, remain symbols of loyalty to our Institutions and of courage. Their sacrifice continues to represent an example of dedication to duty and a reminder to safeguard, every day, the values of democracy and freedom.” Guido Crosetto, Minister of Defense.
