An important humanitarian operation concluded recently. The operation aimed to benefit the Lebanese citizens who, over the last few months, had to leave towns located at the border between Israel and Lebanon, the so-called Blue Line, and move north, due to the clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militias..

Last December, to respond to the request for aid by the Head of the Refugee Centre and Tyre’s mayor, a large solidarity operation started, implemented jointly by the Joint Operations Command, non-governmental agency Live to Love, MSC Foundation, the Blue Helmets of the Italian UNIFIL  Contingent and the  Military Corps of the Order of Malta, .

The Joint Operations Command invited a number of actors and donors to cooperate to the success of the operation, which resulted in the donation of two containers of medical equipment, two chemical toilets, a power supply engine, blankets and clothing, flour, sugar, vegetables, tomatoes, chocolate, fruit juice and cookies for the children.

By implementing Operation Let’s Help Tyre, Italy reaffirmed its commitment to provide concrete aid and support to communities hit by war and natural disasters, proving the value of a system involving the whole country, in which the military and civilian components join each other to help the needing, regardless of their ethnicity, sex, origin or religion.
