Recently, at Alì Al Salem Air Base, the Italian National Contingent Command Air/Task Force Air Kuwait (ITNCC/TFA K) received the visit of the Apostolic Nuncio to Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrein, His Eminence Eugene Martin Nugent; Spanish Ambassador to Kuwait, Miguel José Moro Aguilar; Peruvian Ambassador to Kuwait Carlos Manuel Alfredo Velasco Mendiola and Italian Ambassador to Kuwait Lorenzo Morini.
The authorities – welcomed by Commander IT NCC Air, who illustrated the mission and the configuration of the Italian contingent deployed in Kuwait within Operation Inherent Resolve- had the opportunity to visit Task Group Devil’s shelters. The Group conducts surveillance, reconnaissance and intelligence missions using Tornado aircraft to meet the Coalition’s requirements.
For IT NCC Air servicemen and servicewomen, so far from their families, the visit was a sign of recognition within the context of international communities in Kuwait.
Military Chaplain Don Carlo Lamelza welcomed His Eminence Nugent, who had already visited the base on previous occasions. He expressed his appreciation for the work of the Italian contingent, underscoring the enthusiasm of this community and its active participation in charity events.
Established on 17 October 2014 to take part in multinational operation Inherent Resolve, IT NCC Air guarantees a single command and coordinated logistical support to assets provided by the Italian Air Force and Italian Army – the latter deployed a SAMP-T battery in Kuwait- within the multinational coalition.
