Recently Regional Command-West (RC-W) hosted the Western Conference, witnessing the endorsement of the of the Memorandum of Understanding between local agencies and universities to promote the development of Western Kosovo. The meeting aimed at promoting initiatives of sustainable development in the Western Kosovo Region.
The event saw the participation of 12 mayors from the Italian Area of Responsibility, representing local minorities, and deans and representatives of the universities of Pejë/Peć; Gjakovë/Djakovica and Prizren/Prizren.
The Western Conference was in fact a multiethnic initiative, conducted jointly with the representatives of municipalities located in the RC-W Area of Responsibility, with the presence of all 6 local ethnic groups: Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Bosnians, Rom and Gorani.
In particular, the signatories of the Memorandum of Understanding commit themselves to working together to identify and implement projects that may foster the growth and prosperity of Kosovo communities, and promote economic and social progress in the region, while strengthening each community’s future prospects.
In the same vein, over the last few months the Gender Conference and Security Conference (with the support of the Police Forces) were conducted to discuss, respectively, the enhancement of the role of women in society, and increase coordination among local forces.
