Kosovo Mission: Force Protection Activities

The Italian Engineering Troops’ Platoon based on 11TH Regiment-Bersaglieri and deployed at KFOR Regional Command West (RC-W) has ended Force Protection works at Camp Villaggio Italia (CVI) and Camp Sparta, in the vicinity of the Decani Monastery. More specifically, a 15m-wide fire barrier was built along the entire external perimeter of Camp Village Italia, headquarters to RC-W. The barrier is 3km long. At Camp Sparta too, a 100m-long barrier was installed along the external perimeter in order to increase troops’ security and protection standard.

The Italian Engineering Corps’ units stationed with the Multinational Contingent at RC-W conduct activities aimed to increase force protection and security of the contingents stationed at the military infrastructures, thus allowing them to operate.

KFOR Regional Command West, in line with Resolution 1244/1999 of the UN Security Council contributes to maintain a secure and protected environment, as well as freedom of movement of the local community.
