The NRBC (Nuclear Radiological, Biological and Chemical team), deployed with Regional Command West (RC-W) KFOR, the multinational contingent led by 1st Regiment “Bersaglieri”, recently conducted an inspection at a site where collective health safety was at risk, in the Pec/Peje municipality, Kosovo.
The inspection was part of a control and monitoring programme established by KFOR, in areas where the presence of potentially harmuful substances was reported. It aims to protect safety and health of all the Kosovo communities, as well as of the continget engaged in Operation “Joint Enterprise”. During the activity, NRBC specialists verified that all the barrels stocked at the site were appropriately sealed, and collected and analized relevant data.
Measurements were then valied against the outcomes of prior inspections to assess the trand and identify possible environmental damage. KFOR Italian contingent operates according to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244/1999, concurring to maintain a safe, protected environment as well as freedom of movement of all Kosovo communities.
