Italy-Albania Intergovernmental Summit
The Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, took part today in the first Italy-Albania Intergovernmental Summit, held at Villa Doria Pamphilj, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama. At the end of the talks, a ceremony was held for the exchange of the new Defence Cooperation Agreement between Italy and Albania, in which the Minister participated alongside his Albanian counterpart, Pirro Vengu.
The Agreement, signed this morning during a cordial bilateral meeting, was received with great satisfaction by Minister Vengu, who highlighted the excellent cooperative relationship between the two countries.
“A relationship — Minister Crosetto said — that today is further strengthened with the signing of an important Defence Agreement, which establishes a solid and structured framework to enhance cooperation, including new areas such as maritime, underwater, air defence, and the cyber sector. It is also an opportunity to explore topics of mutual interest, including the stability of the Western Balkans and the development of joint training opportunities between our Armed Forces.
Between Italy and Albania there is a solid friendship, essential for regional security and stability. A mutual trust and a shared willingness to work together to address the complex international situation”.
