Italian Military depliyed with EUFOR “Althea”mission contributed to rescueing two German tourists missing in Bosnia

Early this morning soldiers from the Italian contingent deployed with the EUFOR “Althea” mission in Bosnia  contributed to rescueing two German tourists who went missing in an area along the Bosnia-Montenegro border. They were hospitalized at the local hosptil in good conditions.

The operation was conducted following the request of the Bosnian Ministry of the Interior to the Multinational rescue Unit. All the stages of the operation were coordinated by the Joint Operations Centre (COVI).

Operatione EUFOR “Althea”, which started on 2 December 2004 under EU leadership and following the United Nations mandate (UNSCR 1551, 9 July 2004), was organized in 2012 to enhance the capabilities and education and training of Bosnia Herzegovina  Armed Forces, concurrently supporting the the authprities in maintaing a safe and protected environment.
