“Italy has always been in the front row in Peacekeeping Operations, strongly supporting the role of the United Nations in crisis areas. My gratitude goes to our military, who gained world renown also for their recognized capacity for dialogue and mediation, and to all those who decided to make a difference by defending the weakest, in places where instability and fear reign. A due, respectful thought for those who sacrifice their lives in the name of peace”. Thus Defence Minister Guido Crosetto on the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.
