"In the inhumanity of war, the civilian population is the first innocent victim. The commitment to act to remove mines and unexploded ordnance is in the first place a clear duty towards them. Italy was one of the first signatories of the Ottawa Mine Ban Treaty, and the Defence has been working relentlessly to protect the collectivity.” Minister Guido Crosetto said on the occasion of the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance on Mine Action.
